Katharina von Bora and the Role of Women in the Renaissance

Anfragen
Katharina von Bora was one of the nuns who escaped the monastery on Easter Eve 1523 with the help of the Torgau-born councillor Leonhard Koppe. She travelled through Torgau on her way to Wittenberg. She became the strong woman by the side of the famous reformer. Luther’s wife had to flee again around thirty years later – this time from the plague in Wittenberg – and arrived at the city of Torgau in a seriously ill state following an accident on the road.
