Saxon main stud Graditz

For horse lovers, nature lovers and architecture enthusiasts, it is important to discover a gem of English landscape design and baroque architecture in the Elbe floodplains in front of the gates of Torgau. The Saxon main stud Graditz with its castle and park was built by the Dresden Oberlandbaumeister M.D. Pöppelmann erected in 1722.

The electoral stud farm, founded in 1686, is one of the oldest horse breeding establishments in Saxony. Today, the breeds German riding horse – Trakehner descent – and English thoroughbred are bred here.

In the stud museum you get an insight into the history of the stud and horse breeding. Part of the exhibition is aimed specifically at children and younger guests. It is open on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and every 1st Saturday of the month from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Explore the site with the new information and signage system, which guides you through the stud farm and the historic castle park.
