Historically Valuable Exhibits in the Historic Chancellery
An exhibition with historically valuable exhibits has been displayed in the faithfully restored building of the former Electoral Chancellery since 2005, inviting visitors to discover Torgau’s history and culture in a very special way. The former farmyard of the Cistercian monastery became the property of the sovereign in the early 16th century. Elector Johann Frederick established the Chancellery here in 1533, laying the foundations for a modern Saxon administration and the use of Saxon officialese in Central Germany.
